This collection spans the period 1804 to 1934 and includes business records, promissory and demand notes, stock certificates, articles of incorporation, record books with minutes of directors' and stockholders' meetings, account books, and histories of the Worcester Bank. The manuscript box contains three folders of business records for the period 1803 to 1934, including powers of attorney for purchasing shares of stock, a copy of the act of incorporation, accounts and receipts for building and office supplies, lists of loans, business correspondence, and legal papers. There are two folders of promissory notes for the period 1807 to 1884, one folder of demand notes for the period 1823 to 1850, four folders of stock certificates for the period 1812 to 1851, and two bank books with accounts of William Stowell (1790-1853) and the Fuller and Dodge Company. There are six records books for the period 1803 to 1817, with minutes of stockholders' and directors' meetings as well as accounts, financial statements, and other business records. Finally, there is a manuscript history of the Worcester Bank, c. 1870, and a printed history, 1904.

The Worcester Bank was organized in 1804 when 183 subscribers pledged $150,000 for shares in the company. The bank received its charter from the state in March 1804, and Daniel Waldo (1724-1808) was chosen the first president. Land was purchased on Main Street and a brick building was constructed. Daniel Waldo, Jr. (1763-1845) was elected the second president and the new bank was opened in October 1804.
